I am a creative and experienced qualified counsellor, trained in empathic communication, meaningful connection, and establishing authentic therapeutic relationships. I am experienced in working different client groups, some of whom have complex needs and am capable of therapeutic holding my client.
My Specialist experience is in young adults, loss, stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, suicidal thinking and existential life crisis.
Work Experience:
I have worked at Off The Record therapy practice based in Hyde, Manchester. This practice is renowned for hiring and developing high quality therapists who are able to work with the most difficult of clients. My work was with young adults of 16+.
I am an Anxiety UK approved psychotherapist and continue to work with this nationally recognised charity.
Through the Covid 19 pandemic I volunteered to work with Frontline19, a therapy charity set up to support frontline NHS staff.
As of 2022 I continue to work in private practice and with Anxiety UK.
I commit to offering you the time and space you need to speak your mind and express your feelings and emotional inner world confidentially, and without fear of judgment.
I will accept you for who you are and challenge you on the parts of you which may need help in emerging, by encouraging and supporting you to give voice to this.
The function of counselling:
The counselling process can be a difficult one. Suffering and emotional pain are a part of everyone’s life at different stages. If counselling is provided in a non-judgmental way with empathy and support, it can encourage the beginnings of authentic self-acceptance and provide a renewed wisdom and ability to feel okay about NOT always being okay!
It is not always about solving problems or ‘curing’ suffering, but good therapy should be about coming to terms with that, which may be the root cause of our suffering and working on learning to accept our human imperfections and vulnerabilities.
I believe there is growth and wisdom which comes from this process and by facing into that which we fear can be frightening, but I believe the avoidance of suffering causes more suffering, and many of us will go to great lengths to avoid being with ourselves. Effective counselling provides you with a witness and guide through such transitions, and provides you with tools, skills and personal growth to face into life with a new perspective and increased awareness.
