Hi, welcome to my page.
My name is Jonny Ward (MBACP, PgDip, BA hons) and I am a highly experienced, pragmatic and knowledgeable trainer offering high standard bespoke Mental Health Training and Psychotherapy.
My nickname is "The Anxious Firefighter" through which I have enjoyed some minor claims to fame such as appearing on BBC Radio 4 on numerous occasions and being involved in the launching of Mind's Blue Light Programme.
I have been in the Fire service for 16 years and now hold the rank of Watch Manager. Whilst my career is Fire and Rescue, my passion is mental health. I have studied to Masters level in psychotherapy and worked in some very demanding therapy placements.
I am passionate about both reducing mental health stigma and delivering quality training.
I have in the past, and although much more controlled now, struggled with my own battles involving anxiety, something I am honest and open about and I hope my experiences bring the training to life.
I, nor anyone else can eliminate mental illness, but we can create psychologically safer work places.
My aim is to bring psychological theory and therapy into the workplace, drawing on my own experience as a manager and my own experience of mental ill health.
I am a father, a husband, a line manager, a 999 responder and a mental health professional. I bring pragmatism, reality and honesty to my teaching. I do not bring false hope or ill informed practice.
Aside from my 999 work I am an active Clinical Psychotherapist. I have been trained to Post Graduate Level in Person Centred Therapy. I am CBT and Existential informed. I work within an agency and privately, offering therapy to those who are suffering with mental distress and disorders.
I offer a number of courses including mental health awareness, mental health for managers, stress awareness, psychological resilience and safeguarding.
